Help Save Lives ... One Mile at a Time

Dear Friends:

Today I begin my training for the P.F. Chang's Rock 'N' Roll Marathon which will take place on January 13, 2008. I am running this marathon as a participant in the Team in Training program of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The training program will take me 16 weeks and to the marathon in Phoenix, AZ and I am very excited to get started. For those who don't know about the Team in Training program, it is one of the largest organized endurance training programs in the world. I am being coached with running and nutrition advise while I raise money for research and patient services for those fighting Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s Disease and Myeloma. I participated in a marathon in 2001 and 100-mile cycling event 2002. I currently serve on the Board of Directors of the Kansas Chapter. As you can see, this is a program that is very near and dear to my heart.

I will continue to update my training progress with this blog as well as a weekly Video Podcast. The first episode is just about ready and I hope to have it up on the web here very soon. In the meantime, please click here and consider making a contribution to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and support not only my efforts, but the fight to find a cure. My goal is $3850, but I hope to far exceed this amount. Click here to make an online donation.

Of course, if you wish to mail a check, you can mail them to:

Please continue to check back here and I will continue to update my training progress, hopefully daily and produce a weekly video Podcast where I hope to introduce you to fellow teammates and those fighting and those who have won the battle against cancer. I look forward to an amazing 16 weeks and I hope you will consider joining me in this effort.

For those who are interested, my training this week consists of an easy 3 mile run on Tuesday, a five mile tempo run on Thursday and aneight mile run on Sunday. I'll keep you posted.
